Baccarat Strategies: Lessons from My Journey
This article does not represent Mr. Tang’s opinion.
Many so-called Baccarat experts will immediately tell you how to take shortcuts. Today, I want to share some of the pitfalls I’ve encountered in Baccarat to save newcomers from wasting time and money. Apologies in advance if some details are not covered thoroughly due to time constraints.
Where is the safest place on the battlefield? It’s in the crater. After a bomb has exploded, the chance of another bomb hitting the same spot is relatively low. Similarly, after an event like a 10-game winning streak (or a “dragon”), it is statistically less likely to happen again soon. For example, a 10-game winning streak occurs once every few hundred games, approximately once every 200-300 hands or 8-10 shoes. After such a streak, I would bet on a reversal or a skip strategy for 50 more bets before stopping to wait for the next opportunity.
How did it work? It worked well in terms of rapid accumulation, but the overall result was a net zero gain. The shortest interval between two 10-game streaks can be as short as one column. For instance, if there’s a 10-game Banker streak followed by a 2-game Player streak, another 10-game Banker streak could follow. Such occurrences are rare, and my limited experience could be to blame. Although I didn’t lose my 10,000 RMB, I did manage to recover a significant portion, likely more than the original amount I bet.
How does the Banker make money? Through the 5% commission on each hand. So, why not turn the tables and take a cut from the Banker? I would bet solely on Banker, and if I lost, I would increase my bet by 6% and continue with a stair-step betting pattern. This strategy aimed to earn a 1% profit plus rebate. Given the law of large numbers and zero-sum theory, it is improbable to always see Player wins. When Banker streaks occur, the stair-step strategy would eventually decrease. Despite the table limit of 10,000-100,000, I thought I had discovered a winning method and was excited about it. However, without ample data, I decided to test it with real money.
How did it go? Initially, it went well. With 50,000 RMB, I quickly grew my account to over 100,000 RMB within a couple of weeks. My weekly turnover exceeded one million RMB. But one day, while playing at a venue with persistent Player streaks, I was met with consecutive Player wins. My bets on Banker, increased by 6% each time, couldn’t keep up. Eventually, I ended up losing over 100,000 RMB with only a small rebate of about 20,000 RMB. The experience taught me a hard lesson: when the Player streak continues, it can break through the betting limit, making it hard to recover.
Lesson learned: Betting aggressively when winning is important because your strategy aligns with the trend. Conversely, when losing, it’s crucial to maintain stable bets and avoid large wagers. These are lessons learned from practical experience. I once had a month-long winning streak, but when faced with losses, betting larger amounts led to a significant setback.
My Betting Approach: I started with a capital of 100,000 RMB and aimed for a 10,000 RMB profit. I divided this profit into ten rounds, with each round targeting 1,000 RMB. This approach helped minimize fluctuations and control losses. If I reached my target in a round, I would continue betting until a loss occurred.
Betting Methodology: Focus on trends and follow the major road patterns, such as strong Banker or Player streaks. Observe the trends carefully, and if they become unclear, try a few hands. If the outcome is not favorable, switch tables. Avoid betting too frequently and if you experience consecutive losses on a table, switch to another one. Don’t force it; preserve your strength.
A Personal Strategy: If none of the methods work, I use a personal strategy developed through experience. It involves adapting to situations and recognizing that no fixed betting method guarantees victory. Flexibility in thinking is crucial.
Betting Strategy: Increase your bets when winning and use multi-layered short sequences. The final piece of advice is to cut your losses when needed and gradually recover. Winning is not that difficult if you can manage your emotions and recognize when to stop. The casino profits from human weaknesses—knowing when to stop losing and when to refrain from overextending your wins.
